Week of Smoothie "The Legend"

Monday: 5:30 SS: Mazerolle Settlement Loop. Out old TC to Mazerolle Settlement Rd back via Hanwell, Deerwood and old TC. Hour to hour weather forecast shows showers in the afternoon but clearing around 5:00. If it is raining perhaps we will have to delay the take off by half an hour if the roads are wet. If so, we can ride a shorter route.

Wednesday morning EXPRESS COMMUTE: The first and annual (or not) Express Commute. We meet on Union Street at McLean’s Sports at the regular time of 7:35, ride slowly to the Ramada Inn. From there to Oromocto the goal is to get me to work as quickly as possible!! Everyone present takes pulls, length depending upon strength, however, nobody gets dropped, especially not me!! It will be like a practise in case one day I am late for work! If you have never commuted before Wednesday is the day. Everyone is invited, OSB or not, especially if you have a big engine! Coffee and muffins at MacDonald’s as usual.

Wednesday: 5:30 SS: Rusagonis Loop. York Street, New Maryland, Nasonworth, Route 655 to Nevers Road. Look for me at the Irving (you never know, I maybe on my way home). Lincoln Road back to F’ton.

Friday: 5:30 Leaving from 434 Broad Street: (Park on Staples Ct.) Burton Loop clockwise. Look for me coming home from work in Maugerville. I am not sure yet whether I will join you or not, it depends on a few factors. Ride finishes at my house for a Friday night social. Watermelon, Burgers, Chips & Beer.

Saturday Ride: This is something I have always wanted to do. Ride along the river but start at Nackawick! Since the 4 lane, the old Route 2 is essentially traffic free above King’s Landing. The ride begins at 8:00 a.m. from the old Irving Gas Station just off the highway at Nackawick. Organize your own transportation to get there, driving time is half an hour. We will ride to Woodstock on the west side of the river, coffee and waffles at Fusion Cafe, great coffee and pancakes! Then we ride back to Nackawick via 105 on the west side of the river. Each leg is 50 K’s for a total of 100 for the day, right along the river!

Stinky said...

Rat:

I can ride tomorrow anytime after 5:00. I can't make it tonight, but if anybody can ride tomorrow after work, I will be available.

Great Mon. Ride: Smoothie, Zach W, and Zorro, thanks Guys!!!

Hey Steve,

Haven't decided yet. Likley be a 60k ride
Will see the weather and road conditions but 0900 from the SS will be the start.
Will blog by 08 if anything different.

steve said...

Rat, see you at 9.

steve said...

Great ride rat, 67 k give or take a few due to computer technical difficulties. A little bit of wind never hurt anybody...hahaha.

Don't forget the "Express Commute" tomorrow morning from F'ton to Oromocto. The "train" leaves corner of MacLean's Sports at 7:35 a.m. sharp. Essentially it is a Team Time Trial (TTT)down river. Forecast is NW wind so it maybe REALLY fast. Nobody will be dropped (especially not me).

rat said...

Yes Steve-o it was a fine ride. from the SS i was 61k loop and we did it at 31.2kph inspite of the strong headwind the last 26k.

And Smoothy i will be up and am up for the express commute.

Hi There,

I'm trying to spread the word about a charity bike ride that I'm helping to organize (NB Biking for Breakfast Challenge). Would it be possible for you to post some information about the event on your blog site?

(Sorry to have to contact you this way - I'm not aware of a club contact/email).

Thanks,

Ben Mersereau

Hey Ben and Rebecca,

Have done PEI BFBC 3 times and it was awsome. It is great cause and glad to see Ken expand to NB/NS.
I am away for the NB event but it is a great route Freddy Beach to Moncton.

Now for the am express, I will leave from the Stepping Stone not my home about 720-725am

Rat; See you at the usual meeting place.

Leroy: Are you around this week for any of the rides?

Mel said...

This morning was to be the "Express Commute". However, it was only Rat and myself, I was hoping for at least one more (where were you Jamie? Did you sleep in?) Given that it was just the two of us, we said we'd just ride out but at a descent pace. Just the same, as I passed the Ramada Inn, I punched the button to reset my trip computer to zero. Rat was in the lead and going pretty good. I took over at the power lines at the top of the slight hill pulling 43 k/hr. The pace was picking up. Rat came thru and said, "2 Km pulls", disregarding what we had said earlier, we rode really hard. That is what we did right to Oromocto. Final verdict, 28 minutes 2 seconds, 18.7 Kilometers for an average of 40.1 K/Hour! Pretty good for two people who qualify for the senior discount at some institutions (at least I do). Great ride today, Rat. Thanks for making me feel young again.

rat said...

Well indeed Smoothy it was a rockin' ride this am. Went back the same way at 33.2kph. Would have been quicker with you.
You know we are pretty quick. We do't need that Donut guy :).

Congrats to Cody on his Graduation! I guess that means he's off the payroll.

Weather permitting, Donut and yours truly will be out for a hill ride from Big D's place about 0900Out to BC to climb the wall work our way back up to Hamtown, McLeod Hill and home.

Anyone else available, please join us.

Will blog in am about things based on the weather.

Mel said...

I am glad that the ride this evening was as good one. I tried to get to SS to say `Hi`but was a few minutes late and waited on York St. Didn`t see anyone, did you change the route?

Attention to anyone thinking of commuting tomorrow. I will be going to work but later. Likely leaving around 9:00. Blog, call, or email if I should look for you.

Donut said...

Hey Rat, I see its started to rain a lil bit hear now and the hourly forcast shows showers til 1.. Give me a call when you are finished your meeting or just drop by, up to you.. 440-6011

Mel said...

Don't forget that Friday's ride starts and ends from my home! Plus, stay after the ride for a social!

It would be nice to know who is planning to ride on Saturday. This way, we will know who to wait for and not leave if you are running 5 minutes late. To get to Nackawick, organize carpooling on your own, just be there ready to ride at 8:00. It takes about 30 minutes to drive to Nackawick.

steve said...

Smoothie, Im in for the Friday commute.

rat said...

What a great ride today.Awesome weather, awesome route. I realized I was in over my head when keeping the pace with Firebird and Donut was making me drool. However, apparently I'm not the only one drooling because Donut has a similar effect on the 70+ women in Woodstock. Nice tan Donut! I would be interested in a ride tomorrow after luNch.

Stinky said...

Bubbles, if the rain holds out, I would join you. If you decide on a time, let me know.

Donut said...

Heys Bubbles,

I thought I heard somebody say "what happens on the ride, stays on the ride".. Sounds to me like somebody is a lil jealous that nobody commented on their tan.. Sorry Bubbs, didn't mean to steal your sunshine, you have a great tan..haha

Turbo said...

Ah, Tan/Sman. Where is the geeshly Pool?
plan to ride with Wifey later today.

Mel said...

Is anyone riding at one?

Jazz said...

Sorry Smoothie, Bubbles, Stinky, I had a window of opportunity at 10:15 and i grabbed it. I looked like a drowned rat when I got back, but it was a wonderful adventure.

Quac Loop with Kee Road thrown in. Poured rain most of way out, actually dry and sunny on top of the Ridge then started to rain when I got down to Cookie's parent's house and it basically rained the whole way back. I don't know what it is but it's funny how you can really feel so alive riding in the rain.

Miss you guys. Hope to be out riding more with the group soon.

Happy Father's Day to some of the best Dad's I've ever met! (you know who you are)

By the way, when might we see Pebbles again? Kinda miss him. (am I allowed to admit that?)
