I am in for Monday. I LOVE maple!! Thanks Donut!

Not crazy for walnut but can't ride Wed anyway.

Fridays and Fitters? Doesn't get any better than that, especially with a Commute with Smoothhy in the am

Dish said...

Does this mean there are going to be donuts at the start or finish?

On another note, Mary and I moved into a new house recently, and we're going to have a housewarming party this Saturday. So if anyone wants to come over for a drink or two on Saturday evening, feel free to drop by (53 Shore Street). No gifts please (unless they are made of carbon!).

Bubbles said...

Congrats Dish. Shore St. is a lovely area.

OK...re the ride tonight. I have two questions (honest answers please). The first is related to that damn black dog on the Kingsley Rd.as we ride into Burtts Corner. It scares the shit out of me. Has anyone seen it this year?

Second, what will the average pace of this ride be? If I can't keep up, I DON'T want to be left to that black dog who runs out at the bottom of the hill. Is this a ride for hammerheads or for the general membership who would ride at a pace that I could maintain?

Donut said...

I know it is my week to post the rides, however I'm unable to make tonights ride as I'm just starting into my 2 night shifts, will be able to ride for the remainder of the week...

Can't answer ya Bubbles with regards to the black dog, you'll be fine, you only need to be faster then one other person....:)

Omni said...

Bubbles,

I've been past there three times this year (once with you back in April) and there has been no sign of "sparky".

Stinky said...

Hey Bubbles:

I have been up there twice this year and I have not seen the black dog. In saying that, who knows what will happen tonight.

Also, I will be there tonight, so don't worry about the pace. Just for you, I promise to slow it down. :) Seriously, I have very tired legs, but the plan is to still go tonight.

I will be the "one other person" that Donut is referring to. Unless Cookie is coming. Then, we would not have to worry at all. He would be sure to be the slowest. :)

Bubbles said...

Sure Donut, you are just afraid of the dog! Cookie, you coming out??

Turbo said...

see ya'all tonight.

I'll meet you at the intersection of Brookside Drive and the Ring Road! Look for me there!

Hey Team,

Join me in a big round of Kudos to Queen E for her superlative showing in Lake Placid this past weekend.

She came 2nd in her age division (298th overall) and qualified for Kona!!

After the swim (1:00:49 - 4th in division) and bike (6:03:05 - 18.5mph avg - 9th in division), she capped the day with a Boston qualifier marathon performance (03:46:23 - 2nd in division)

Libby .. as always, I'm amazed and humbled!

I hear the new Kona ride is tuned and ready to roll!

I'd like to be able to respond to those cheap shots with some trash talk of my own, but I don't think I can back it up. Watch your back, Stinky!

I hope to get out on Wednesday night for a shorter ride (If I can still fit into my kit)

Bubbles said...

Cookie...I don't think Stinky's comments were meant to be cheap, rather I think she was supportive. Just looking out for an OSB "sister". Be careful trying to paste on the OSB kit, I have heard that the shorts are a bit transparent the larger the font gets.

Great ride tonight. Geez, my legs are toast.

Stinky said...

Exactly Bubbles...I was looking out for you. Us OSB sisters must stick together and support one another.

Cookie, if you are heading out for a ride on Wednesday, it must be with us. Forget about a shorter ride. Just join us. I will promise to wait for you and will remember to watch my back. :)

Bubbles - just so you know. I quickly read your message as follows:

"I have heard that the shorts are a bit transparent the larger the FRONT gets." Phew.....I am glad I read it a second time.

Turbo said...

Stinky you need Rob home, in soooo many ways. thanks for the ride last night. Checked in on Zorro, A kind stranger gave him a lift home.

Bubbles said...

Geesh, I read Turbo's message as a kind "strangler" gave him a lift home, which seemed like an oxymoron to me. Clearly, Stinky and I need a break.

Smoothie:

Are you commuting tomorrow?

Mel said...

Yes, I am commuting tomorrow, same time, same place! Stinky, I will look for you at the Irving. Anyone else??

I will definitely not be there on Friday as I am going to Halifax for the weekend. Thursday is a maybe since it may rain and besides I have a supper date at 6:00. Just the same, I will ride if I can.

I drove from Oromocto to F'ton via the airport tonight. Bad news is that the road is still dug up and will vibrate the heck out of you. Good news is about half is paved! Smooth and a wide shoulder. So, we have a lot to look forward to when it is all done, hopefully by next week.

Stinky said...

Hey Smoothie:

As it turns out I guess I am climbing tomorrow. Next time. If it does not rain I will commute on Thursday.

Rat, are you still in for a commute on Friday morning?
I will be riding early on Friday. I would like to do around 80kms or so. Any takers?

Turbo said...

donut, Darlene and myself are in for friday night. mmmm Cheese cake

Rat said...

Commute with Smoothy in absentia Friday. Same time and location ie 0735 at Mcleans 0745 Ramada Irving. Could push times ahead to 0800 and 0810 respectively if people really need to. Treats at the Sour Grape, and home via Wasis/Whittaker/New Maryland or just reverse the ride home but via the Marysville Bypass.

Bubs and Rat are in for Friday night.

Omni said...

Stinky,
Rat,

I'm {tentatively} in for the Friday morning ride ... pending a re-scheduled meeting.

I cannot push the times back later that 07:30-07:45 and would be all for pulling them ahead to 06:30 - 07:00.

Stinky said...

Omni,

Yikes....6:30 or 7:00....Absolutely not! :)

I was barely awake when I met them at 7:45 for the last commute. Any earlier would be bad for me.

How about we just stick with the regular, normal, times? I will be at the Irving at 7:45 on Friday morning.

rat said...

The usual time it is. Awesome. Hope all have a great ride tonight.
I'll see if I can get Bubs to come out Friday am.

Mel said...

I'll be riding to work tomorrow morning if the roads are dry. I'll look at the usual places if anyone is joining me. (I will not be there on Friday, going to Halifax for the weekend.)

Stinky, Firebird, et all.

I just wanted to apologise for my sloppy roll of the front of the line this evening. I experienced a rather sudden and pronounced cramp and was unable to pull my leg over the top of the stroke. Consequently I slowed far faster than I could roll off to the left.

It was "limp home mode" after that.

Cookie said...

Stinky: I hope you feel bad for yelling at Roy now

Stinky said...

That was not a yell. I recall that my tone was very sweet and concerned. Here is what I said, in a calm, loving voice:

"Roy, please be careful in the future".

I am positive that Roy could not hear what I said over the shouting done by the OSB boys from behind. :)

In fact, I was so concerned that I asked what happened to him once I saw that poor Roy was no longer with the group.

To be honest, it was all the men who yelled or grunted at him. Especially Cookie. Sorry about their behaviour Roy. You must have big shoulders to ride with this group. Thank God us OSB women keep this group together. :)

Omni said...

Stinky,

I did not register specific words - I was focused on my discomfort - but I do not recall any "calm loving voices" - thanks for the tough love just the same :)

The problem is not my shoulders, I can easily accommodate any trash Cookie and the boyz wish to share - In this case the jeers were justified, it was a sloppy manoeuvre.

The problem is my lower back/right leg which is still tight today - I've had a few of these "lock-up" style cramping sessions this summer.

Perhaps, it's time to visit my sister for some core strengthening/stretching exercises ... I need to sort this out or I'm going to miss all the fun.

Stinky said...

Omni,

You are welcome for the "tough love".

I hope you start to feel better so that you can join us with all the fun.

Herc said...

Hi Donut, I am really sorry I have to miss the ride and social on Friday night. I have to head home to Grand Manan, big 25th high school reunion. Have a great weekend everyone. Sounds like I'll be missing some good rides.

Turbo said...

"Work willing" I plan to be at Macleans for 0730 Friday morning. Please advise if plans have changed.

Bubbles said...

Have a great morning commute. I have work commitments but I'm off for next week's commutes and will be riding Friday night!

I knew the minute that I saw Roy's post about slowing down that it was Stinky who yelled at him! Good work Stinkster, gotta keep em all in line.

Omni said...

Herc,

Now, isn't that scary? Mine, is next weekend ;)

rat said...

The commute is on for Friday o735 at McLeans and 745 at the Ramada Irving with a snack at the Sour Grape. Go from there.

Omni said...

I ended-up with a meeting conflict with the regular commute times so I went a little earlier.

Stinky said...

Great commute today with Turbo and Rat. Thanks so much for the helpful riding tips and for the delicious carrot cake at the Sourgrape.

Didn't quite make 100kms today. Just a little under my goal. See you all the 2nd week of August.

Turbo said...

Thanks to Donut for the great Friday ride and social. Appreciate the reasonable pace and great beverages/food and laughs.
You and Bubbles did a wonderful job on the Cheezecake. Nail it.
If you see ONE fingerless cycling glove in your driveway it's mine. Arrived home with one of two I left on the back bumper. Go Figure...

Looks like I'm able to make the ride/swim, I'll bring my pack along to the SS with me if you don't mind picking it up.. Appreciate it..

Bubbles said...

OK...this might be one of the best OSB weekends in history. First, a fantastic spread Chez Donut last evening (chicken, greek salad, twice baked cheesecake!) Almost good enough to miss a ride for!!

Then, a fabulous ride to Grand Lake (Zorro for the beginning, Turbo, Rat, Dish, Donut, Bubbles and Eco Girl) and breakfast at Jazz and Eco Girls beautiful cottage, swimming, relaxing and then the 64K ride home, which was I might add...NOT RELAXING! Thank God for Turbo's flat. We missed you Eco Girl.

Thanks to Donut, Jazz and Eco Girl for a truly OSB weekend. Great times with great friends. We are so fortunate.

Turbo said...
