Week of Hairpin (Kelly M)

Monday being a holiday, I figure most people will be doing longer rides rather than the usual 5:30. So how about the following for the rest of the week?

Wednesday SS 5:30 - The 'Gornish Counterclockwise - Forest Hill, Kimble, New Maryland, Whittaker, Rusagonis Rd, Airport, back to town

http://www.mapmyride.com/route/ca/nb/fredericton/271127469871123572

Friday SS 5:30 - TBD Social Pace

Saturday 08:00 SS - Stanley - Westmorland St Bridge, Ring Rd, out Royal Rd and over 7ish delightful rollers to Stanley, then back via English Settlement and back to town along the Nashwaak/River St

Thanks to Sonya Hull for writing the article "Sharing the road with cyclist" in Saturday's Gleaner. This weekend in Montreal was a Memorial Ride for cyclists injured and killed while riding. We should all read the article (Click on the link at the top) and hopefully stay safe.

Anyone here know any triathletes looking for a new wetsuit? I'm selling mine. It's Quintana Roo, Size ML. Great shape.

Jazz said...

Formerly knows as Mrs Jazz, now referred to as Sonic, yes, that's the same Sonya Hull who is an OSB member and also a sponsor on the back of our new kit - Crescent Management Consulting (for those wondering who/what that was....)

Well it is that time of the week when we start thinking of commuting with Smoothy.

Weather and reasonably dry roads will have me out for Wed and Thurs am, I work Friday am.
0735 at McLeans Sports at Cliff(the road up to LHHS and O'Ree centre) and Union.

Anycahanges to that this week Smoothy. And even if he can't make it we can still do the same thing.

Gals/Guys, this is Seabass... I plan on joining you tonight for the ride! Just thought I'd let you know... I'm assuming you're still meeting at the YMCA for the departure?

No doubt said...

Seabass, I think they meet on Saunders St. at the Stepping Stone's seniors complex. I might make it out as well.

I'll roam around and look for guys/gals that look like bikers...

What a great ride this am with Smoothy and Steve French. A nice pace great pulls and of course wonderful treats compliments of Papa Smoothy! Having a "threesome" this am with just Steve and to ride home was awesome.

I will be looking for riders for Thursday am and you know who you are.

Passing by the Y 0725+/- couple of minutes than to the designated meeting spot for 0735.

Went looking for the peleton and wasn't disappointed. It was awe inspiring as the train went by. I wish I had a sound recorder just to get the whhhrrrr of the wheels. So cool!
Bubbles away so got the parenting duties.

Gotta get in my car and drive out to the Gornish. I left a lung out there somewhere. Great ride, though. Thanks to Adam for going easy on us.

Mel said...

Same place, same time, see you there!

Hairpin said...

I was totally going to continue at 50 km/hr after Mr Wad finished pulling, but, um, I slowed down because I thought some of you might like a little rest.

Also, I'm highly keen to join the commute, despite my great fondness for being in my bed in the early morning. But since I'm going to Cape Breton Friday morning, it's possible that it won't happen this week. Boo.

turbo said...

Great to see everyone is having fun on their bikes. sorry I missed the latest adventure. Plan to be out Friday/Sat.

Cookie is so friggin strong this year!!

Cookie ... leaving anonymous comments flaunting your prowess is a little trashy .. even for you ;)

Between work and ... well work, my time on the bike has slide tragically this month .. time for a little shock therapy.

After running a chunk or two of the Cabot Trail this weekend, Hairpin & I plan to ride the lumpy part of it on Monday:
http://www.mapmyride.com/ride/canada/ns/cheticamp/171127491532258361

At present it's looking like a 3.5 hour leisurely outing for Hairpin and a 5-hour lung-bust for the old fat guy ... on that note, if you care to join us, there's room for more.

rat said...

To all our brothers and sisters doing the Cabot trail (or should it the trail will do them), the known are Hairpin, Herc and Omni.
Enjoy.

The race er, I mean the commute with Smoothy was quick what with the young steed Donut making it another threesome. It was great to have someone to help pull me along on the trip home as was yesterday with Steve ( who needs a handle)

Donut said...

Dido on the commute Rat, great way to get the day started...

FYI, route 8, below Durham Bridge is being re-surfaced. (in a grooved state) So saturday ride will have bail out option if group decides on alternate (shorter) route.

Great commute this morning which worked out well for me as Smoothie's schedule allowed for him to have the morningto ride and make the round trip back to town.. After a stop at the Sour Grape of course.. Thanks Smoothie..

Mel said...

Will you be crossing the Westmorland Street Bridge? I assume, "Yes"

Donut said...

zorro said...

Bubbles said...

Turbo...are you suggesting I was in a Tizzy?? Geesh...make a suggestion and what do I get:). Fun ride tonight. Rat and I have commitments so no Saturday ride for us. Great to see two new riders. Hope the Stanley ride was fabulous. Anyone planning for Sunday?

rat said...

Hey Bubs et al

Work days Sunday 'til 3 and could get out for about 430pm ride if anyone for a later shorter ride.

turbo said...

There was no Tizzy, That why it was great :-)
The Stanley ride was challenging good, over 100km for all of us.
Zorro, Smoothorro and Turborro.
Stopped for Breaky in Stanley, lots of rollys and weather/scenery fantastic.

Mel said...

Great to ride a metric century today, thanks riding, Turbo and Zorro. Do you know that from where you enter Stanley and then along the river it is like a 10K gradual downhill? Sweet!! Nice scenery, great riding.

Stinky said...

I am in for a long, slow, ride tomorrow if anybody is interested.

Queen E said...

Hey,

I can't believe I missed the Stanley ride, it's my all time favorite ride! I'm in course all weekend. I am going to try to do stanley early monday am, if anyone happens to be off then I'd love the company, wondering about the status of the pavement in Durham?
Happy weekend, enjoy, be glad you are not indoors!

Mel said...

For any of you who missed today's century ride to Stanley, I was in at THE EDGE and Brian told me he is leading the 100K ride to F'ton Junction tomorrow for the Wheels for Meals Bike A Thon. It leaves Officer's Square tomorrow morning at 10:00 a.m. All info can be found at the web site:

http://www.frederictonmealsonwheels.ca/?p=303

Check it out! I am not sure what I am doing yet. I know I'll ride but I also have to stain the deck!

Mel said...

Tracy:
Do you want to join the fundraiser and ride the 60K? Anyone else?

Stinky said...

I might do that Smoothie, but I am thinking of the 100. Would you like to do it? I wonder what the pace will be like? I am not looking for anything fast.

Mel said...

I was talking to Brian and even he did not know but he does want to stick together. I told him it is after all a public road and if you do not like the pace just say, "See you later". The 100 leaves at 10:00 whereas the 60 leaves at 11:45. I could start with you at 10, however, I really do have to stain the deck.

Stinky said...

Sounds great Smoothie. I will be at Officers Square at 9:30ish. We will start together and see how the day unfolds.

Mel said...

Rat:
The deck is done and riding at 4:30 can work if you are into it. Call me or blog. Anyone else?

rat said...

Hey Smoothy,

did you ride this am?
plan was to ride with bubbles at about 430pm.perhaps we can connect. it is quite windy which affect the route as does the number in the pace line. perhaps a ride up the north side to bc via tripp and sisson and back on the ?104. we could drive to your place and leave from there.

Mel said...

That is exactly what I was thinking. Let's do it! (I did not ride this A.M. but the deck is done!)

Mel said...

Tracy/Stinky:
How was your ride today for Meals on Wheels? The deck looks great!

Great ride today with Brian M setting the pace line. It was somewhere over 30km/hr but only for about 89k which is what most registered. 2 riders left at 9:30 and 10 others at 10am. Huge props to Eckhart from Germany for riding a Carver HT with a 5” fork, 8”front rotor 2.1 knobby tires and FLAT pedals and came in an impressive 4:05. I would like to see the guy on a road bike!
