looks like another OSB adventure (perhaps a tad wet) week. Some great shows up for Grabs
Where in the heck is Douglas Harbour? and Kingsclear road is ALL torn up, have to get your smokes another day Jazz.

Jazz said...

Douglas Harbour is the first place you hit on Grand Lake when you head through Lakeville Corner. Sonya (mrs. jazz) rode it today and it's a sweet ride that i think everyone will enjoy.
Drop the nation on Friday night, we'll ride UP the hill.
Hope the weather holds off. As Robert Cray said on the Strong Persuader (1987) album, the Forecast Calls for Pain this week...er.. for rain, I mean.

Woody said...

Jazz! You da man. Great route selections, slammin' door prizes, references to classic albums... I mean you're just so damn good you'll probably even find a way to turn the weather around.

Hope to see you on Friday and or Saturday.

Ms. Jazz said...

ahem, I prefer Ms. Jazz versus Mrs. Jazz, thank you. Yes, I'm finally on the blog! Had to see what Jazz's ride was for Friday night because apparently I'm 'in' ;-)

And to be clear, I rode to Scotchtown yesterday not Douglas Harbour - yes, the extra 4km matters!

I notice there are a few more OSB Missuses (sp?) now - Ms. Turbo, Ms. Zorro - what a great development!

Team OSB said...

Welcome Ms. Jazz! Yes, female riders - and spouses of all genders (even you, Rat!) - are always welcome.

Team OSB said...

That is correct all Genders welcomed just BYOBike, and join the paceline. OSB those who ride it... ride it alot. 2009 is a Great cycling year.

Cookie said...

I realize i haven't been riding much lately, but somebody PLEASE tell me that was a hard ride tonight. It almost freakin killed me. As Jazz sez "It's all about pain and castaways".

Jazz said...

A great cycling year...made even better by that sweet easy ride we had tonight.

The Forecast was right! There was pain, but no rain and tonight's spoils went to McCain (2 tickets to any show at this year's Harvest!)...who's reign on the Rocky Road guaranteed his musical gain.

Thanks to all for the fun!

Turbo said...

More attacks than Pearl Harbour...
What was the avg speed my governer kicks out a 35kph.
Tons of fun boyz.
Nice to see Argon Bob with us

Argon Bob said...

Hey Turbo, that was an apt observation: you "saw" me tonight. And it wouldn't have been for long if ya'll hadn't waited at the top of the climbs and elsewhere. Thanks. Glad to hear I wasn't the only sufferer out there tonight!

Mel said...

Great to hear that your ride was a success. I rode a total of 13 kilometers! Thanks to Argon Bob for the CO2, I owe you one. Thanks to Firebird who came to pick me up when I flatted again on the way home. It is good to have friends you can count on when you need them. I'll try again tomorrow, new tire, new tube.

Señora Zorro said...

I guess technically I'm not a Mrs. Zorro but I rather like the ring of Señora Zorro...so I'll be Señora

That being said it is preferable to some of the nicknames I'm sure I could earn!

And I consider myself a member of the "OSB Prospects" as opposed to the actual team itself.

Jazz said...

Click on my name for today's cycling laugh provided by a bike group in Australia.

Greg V said...

I had so much fun last night...what a great ride!! Anybody up for a ride tonight?

Jazz said...

Mooz, you were a monster last night. Be sure to save some legs for Wednesday night! The Forecast still calls for Pain. (Cookie, is that getting "old" yet?)

rat/mr bubbles said...

rat said...

Cookie said...

Be afraid, Donut... be very afraid.

Jazz said...

Wooooooeeee! What a sufferfest....a joint OSB/Rad Edge romp through Mazerolle and up over kewsick Ridge. I haven't seen that much pain since before aspirin was invented!
The winner of tonight's draw for two Harvest tickets goes to Turbo (I shit you not, my son Erik did the draw).
Congrats Turbo and thanks for helping a brother out there earlier when the suffering was momentarily overwhelming!
Sonya and I and our other sons Alexander and Keith are looking forward to seeing as many riders (and spouses) as possible on Friday night. RSVP's not required but welcomed, of course.
The pain did reign tonight.

Stinky said...

Hey Pinky:

I already sold mine. If I hear of anybody else selling, I will contact you.

Ally said...

I'm having Guinness tonight!! I went straight back down the hwy with Laszo,Liz and Onne. My first Carriage Hill, quite an experience. Bubbles told me that what doesn't kill you will make you stronger. I told her I should be *&#$ Hercules by now

Turbo said...

Thanks Jazz, worth every heart beat. If keswick ridge put me over the top. I'd say the tickets cost me 94 bpm each. Me and Me wife look forward to the Friday social.
Nice to see some rad boyz out tonight. Makes us OSB farts look quite human. Always nice to test the limits. Pebbles had a great ride, your back in the game kid.

Bubbles said...

Drs.Bubbles are in for the Friday night ride. WooHoo. I can't wait.

Pebbles said...

No pain no gain.

Thanks very much to all who kept me in the group tonight. Great to ride with the rad group. Need lots of rest for Friday ride. Susan and I are looking forward to the social.

Great to be riding again.

jazz said...

By the way, tonight thus ended the pursuit of suffering for the week (posted rides anyway - feel free to suffer on your own!). We've got some new folks (yes, even more!) coming out on Friday night, so it really will be a ride of "more temperate pace". And Saturday is just a usual long pace ride.

Bubbles said...

Pinky, Not ready to sell Bubbles yet but certainly would consider loaning her for the rest of the season if Hanna would like to borrow her.(I assume it's for Hannah cause it's too small for you)

turbo said...

Jurgen can you sent me an email at rudi3@rogers.com, the address i have for you is not working.
tks,

No Doubt said...

Thanks for the ride last night guys. Max recorded HR for '09 is 186. On the 3 climbs I was 183, 185 and 184. McKewon is a monster. Oh, and McCain, you can drop that polka dot jersey off at the shop for Brian anytime :).

Team OSB said...

Great to see such a huge turnout (15!) for the hard Wednesday night - Cookie, Zorro, Pebbles, Jazz, Turbo, Ally, Jurgen (aka CycleSweats), Mooz, and Lazlo joined by Libby and Onne and soon after by No Doubt, Dish, Brian and Curtis. A challenge for all at times but, as Ally/Hercules said, hopefully all the better for it.

Stinky said...

WIsh I could join you for the Friday social. Have a great time everybody. See you soon.

Dish said...

Knew the polka dots were a mistake the second I saw Brian and No Doubt. Should have left them in the closet.

Cookie said...

Hmmm... what do you think of "Hercules" for Ally? Maybe "Herc" for short?

rat said...

Hey Smoothy, I am assuming that I will meet you at 0735 at McLeans.

Hi Guys,

Can I ask a huge favour?

Sebby (my son) is going to Edinburgh next summer with the FHS theatre group and we are fund-raising like mad. We are having a bottle drive this weekend all over teh area.

If it isn't a huge hassle for you, could you bring your bottles/cans tonight and I will take them off your hands? Alternatively, you can drop them off at 382 Inglewood.

Alas no riding for me tonight. :(

I'll be at the social later.

Jazz said...

Senora Zorra - As Alexander, Stella, and their bastard love child "Bud Light Lime" are all making appearances this evening, you're welcome to all the empties in the morning.

'Turbo said...

Hey Esperanza, i just googled it!!! Dylan Shaw in our neighbourhood beat you to the bottle punch. I suggest you query Freewheelers Team Evil for a donation. cycling and suds seems to have a common thread.

Team OSB said...

Looks like a hot one tonight. Turbo, pls bring along the 2009 OSB Tube Top Jersey prototype.

No Doubt said...

Is Sat morning's ride etched in stone? I'm riding to Salisbury tomorrow morning and wouldn't mind the company along the way, and of course, the pancakes.

Turbo said...

Bubbles has the prototype, something about doing modifications?? as it was too cumbersome.

Gas Street Billy said...

Turbo,

I'll take the upcoming week. Stay tuned for the rides AND the dress code. Don't plan to show up wearing just any old thing.

Heads up - between the Fort Fort Nashwaak and down the Marysville Bypass 3) go out the Gibson St from the walking bridge and all around the Marysville Bypass. Same options apply coming back.
I hope to ride out and meet you guys on the way back from McGowens Corner when I get off work.

Herc said...

thanks so much Jazz and Ms. Jazz. It was so much fun to get together with everyone. Sure sorry I have to miss tomorrows ride. Thanks for the pictures Mel. Turbo my home email is dmacdon2@nb.sympatico.ca.

Cookie said...

Thanks so much to the Jazzes for their hospitality last night. It was great to see everybody. That was the kind of night that helps us get through the cold winter where we live.

Turbo said...

Thanks bubbles, Great if you can send them tomorrow, As I'm away for work (in river)for most of the week. Will Join for part of the saturday ride.
Jazz/Soyna- This week was sooo much fun, The best or me was to see the same mactaquac area at such different heart rates. The friday social, made Mon-Wed gut-checks seem surreal. We certainly do have some beautiful routes to choose from and wonderful people to share them with. Thanks to all of OSB for sticking with the 2009 season.

Bubbles said...

Great night last night. Thanks so much to the Jazz's. What a great group we have!!!!

Esperanza Zorro said...

Thanks to les deux Jazz for their excellent hospitality and all things tortilla chipped - fab guac & nachos!

The ride for me was humbling - I am on a road back to recovery from health-induced time off and realize this Virginia Slim still has a long way to go baby! :)

Thanks for the pulls (and pushes) guys!

Pebbles said...

Thanks so much to the Jazz's for the great hospitality and the TICKETS :). Great people, great ride, great food/pops...say no more.

No Doubt said...

It's time to take the mountain bike down from the rafters in the garage and get out and polish up the skills. Next Sunday is the Hadley Challenge starting from Marysville place and heading out to the Hadley trails in Penniac and finishing at the Hadley's house for a BBQ. It's a poker run as well. You could be the slowest rider but end up with the best hand and win $100! Norm has set up an awesome blog with detailed race info. Check it out!

A long hot ride to Douglas Harbour for breakfast and back. It may be flat but you never get a break. Zorro, Laslo, Bubbles and Yergen for the whole ride, Turbo, Cookie and Mel for the shorter (pansy) version and Rat joined us for part of the ride home. The Jazz's met us for breakfast and it was delicious.

Laslo crashed on the way home, got up and back on the bike, with significant road rash and then...crashed again (no injuries this time!) But back on the bike and finished the ride. WOW. Hope you are relaxing with some beer and ice this afternoon Laslo.

Great ride with great friends.

Jazz said...

Thanks to all who helped make this a great week of riding and socializing. Friday night was the largest OSB ride I've been on in a long time with 16 riders setting the pace out old highway to Mactaquac, and best of all 7 of them were of the female variety. Again, seems a record to me.
Congrats to Pebbles, Turbo and Dish on their Harvest ticket wins...enjoy! And Zorro, Christine and I urge all to come out and enjoy Harvest as much as you can!
We all got our fill of beer Friday - thanks to Labatt our sponsor for coming through in a huge way - and enjoyed a lot of laughs, including a reading of the account of Turbo's hilarious original encounter with Jurgen on a mountain bike on Kewsick Ridge just about 3 years ago and thankfully, here he was this week a most welcome sight and we're proud to have him as a teammate!
So, onward to week of Bubbles......I just hope she has one Rocky Rd climb in there!
Cheers to all!

Cookie said...

Laslo: Hope you are OK. How was the nursing care from Bubbles? And the doctor care from Rat. Did he say "Hmmm... I've never seen anything like that before" like he said to Turbo along the road in South Carolina?

Laszlo said...

What a crazy week!
First; I am, or will be fine in a few days. Nothing broken, only huge scrapes and bruises. I have to watch, wich side to turn at night. Facing my Better Half was a little tuffer, than the ride home:o), but later on she did bike with me to Peniac.
The nursing and the medical attention was first class. Thanks to Bubbles and Rat for all the care, and Bubbles, Jurgen and Zorro for the escort to my street!
Still I feel, this week has been one of the best ever in my cycling experience. I put more miles on my bikes than ever before, and had the pleasure of riding with so many good people.
