June 1st

Week of McNair

Leaving From the "Y" 5:30pm

Anyway, here’s some rides to post…take ‘em or leave then…haha!!

Monday – Mazerolle counter clockwise – Out Woodstock Rd./102 – Across Mazerolle to Hanwell – Back in Hanwell (this direction avoids traffic at 5:30 going back out Hanwell with limited shoulder)

Wednesday – Standard Mactaquac loop clockwise

Friday – Quick lap up over Carriage Hill since it’s beer night! – Out Woodstock Rd. – Up Carriage Hill – Across Deerwood – Back in Hanwell to BEER!

Weekend – Riders choice/Consensus but I wouldn’t mind getting a gang together to carpool to Sussex area for a ride in the ‘homeland’…some beautiful rides in the area, especially with nice weather! Could gather some locals for a big ride if there’s interest.

Andrew, which bridge would you be crossing to get to Mount Hope? If I am running late, I'll meet you on the bridge.

Train Bridge.

A big thank you to Nills and co. for stopping to help a stranded biker yesterday on the 105 on their way back from PEI. The spare tube got me home no problem, and there is now a brand new Michelin tube waiting for you at the cash at Radical Edge. Thanks again!

Good ride and a good turn out of riders for the Monday night ride. It was a standard Monday night ride with Firebird and Zoro putting a beating on all of us.

Mel said...

Not so standard if you consider Firebird going over the handlebars! Be careful out there!

I hope there is no change in the route tonight as am work in meeting until hopefully no later than 5-510. If I am not there at 535 I will try to hookup by the top of Hanwell. Am I to assume that at the top of Hanwell we will turn right and get onto the new TCH at it's begiining or is the plan to go out the Hanwell to the Maz and get on the TCH from there?
Hope fully some one can enlighten me.
Hope to see all my brothers and sisters

Wowsers; now that was one dandy Wed. night ride; 64 km averaging over 32; not bad for the old guys. Events of the ride: we lost one of our strongest riders within the first 10 km; Cyclesquash(on his mountain bike and in sneakers!!!) and Rat tried to kill us all with pulls into the wind that defied all; Mitch dropped his chain (a chance for a bit of a recovery; thank God!!); I near barfed many times; Coach talked of near cramp stage; Cookie did hit cramp stage but powered through it(what a rider!); Elizabeth joined us only long enough to blow the entire group up on the next climb.

OSB: A great Wed. night ride.

Dropped after 10 k tonight.......Burnt out and it is only the end of May.

Ouch...oh well my ride alone was to say the least alot less event filled than you fellas. Me, the Bike and the birds.

Wednesday night... opened er up and blew some carbon out of the old cylinders. You know you worked hard when both legs start cramping driving home in the car, just from pushing clutch and gas!?! Great ride!

Looking forward to Friday social ride... nice to have a mix :-)

I'm sorry I missed this wicked Wednesday night ride. Unfortunately, I was stuck communing with Eric Clapton at the Bell Centre in Montreal. AWESOME. Layla, Cocaine, and a tonne of bluesy rockers. Did I mention it was AWESOME? Ear drums back.

Is the Friday ride leaving from the Y or Ringos

Mel said...

I take it the peleton will ride out on the Maugerville side to Burton Bridge? I will meet you on this highway. If another route is used, please notify by the blog or call me 461-6943. Thanks,

Stephen Dixon said...

So, we leave from Y but finish at Ringo's?

Mel said...

Smoothie and Firebird leaving at 8:00 from 434 Broad Street for 2 hours before the rain. Back at 10:00. Rain scheduled to start at noon. Come on over.

Mel said...

Click on "May 26th" but don't forget to click on "Yellow". But will he bring it out to play tomorrow, rain in the forecast! Come out to find out.

Does Firebird have the Prince? Nice ride!

Anonymous said...

Yup ;-)
I've waited since I was 13 to get an Italian breed, now was the time. (graduation present...and my wife agreed)

Anonymous said...

Firebird's Prince is pretty darn impressive!! Very stately.

Anonymous said...

A Prince!! Wow! "Nice bike" indeed! Enjoy. Can't wait to see you on it.

Mel said...

Jean Guy and I got caught out in the rain this morning but the "PRINCE" was nice and dry in the garage! Great ride.

A Sunday Ride: Any interest?
Perhaps, 9 AM from the Y; you pick the route. Pending good weather. Confirm attendance.

Anonymous said...

If the weather is nice, Rat and I'll be out for a 0900 am ride. If it's wet, I'll run. And yes, Firebird has an awesome new ride, and shoes and helmet...! Does this mean we have to change his name to Budgeybird?

I have the following OSB apparel items available to a good home;

OSB Red Merkley Skull Cap - Free to the first person to pick it up. (Mel kindly provided these on a recent Friday ride. My head is too big.)

OSB Jacket, Medium - This is a great jacket and looks very smart. I just never wear mine. It is like new. I can't remember what I paid but I'll basically sell it for half of what I paid (Tank, can you remember?)

OSB (Burgundy version) Jersey and Shorts, Medium - I keep good care of my stuff and these items are lightly used. I'll take offers on these.

Before the comments start flying, I want to state clearly that I just have too much cycling stuff and am trying to find good homes for some of my stuff. This is not an anti-OSB statement and should not be interpreted as such. I still have my Coca-Cola coloured kit and wore it proudly last night. It also give more people the chance to "fly the colours" until we get new kit.

Hey Woody : I would be interested in the burgundy jersey. My number at home is 454-7571(leave message). Zorro

I am in for Sunday ride at 900am from Y if the weather is good (2-2.5 hr ride?)

Had a Quadzilla sighting in Marysville on his mountain bike today. I seen you Zilla! No more hiding!

40km TT in Moncton next Saturday and RR in Yarmouth, NS on Sunday. I've been trying to recruit for a roadtrip to Yarmouth, but no takers yet. Let me know if anyones interested.

Anonymous said...

Douthwright...are you riding for "Da Edge" this year?

If so how does their sponsorship package compare to OSB?

Cheers

PS Woody...I did the same as you with my first OSB kit. Now being worn proudly by Argon Bob.

Cookie said...

Tank: Do you mean to say that someone bought a pair of your used shorts? YIKES!

Anonymous said...

Boyz and girls of OSB. Have a good Monday eve ride. I worked a very early morning shift and then managed to get a late afternoon ride in. Great day for a ride.

Anonymous said...

Tank, haven't been offerred a sponsorship package from OSB as of yet. The Rad boys are helping during the races with team tactics and with training and bike supplies, so it's the least I can do to wear their colors. I'll always be an OSBer at heart :). See you guys soon.

Anonymous said...

Old red is for SALE ! It's about time. What will you do for a rain bike? Oh I get it you have a New Ride on your mind :)

Anonymous said...

Yes, Old Red is for sale. A fine bike, served me well. (contact alangille0517@rogers.com if interested). A new ride; I already have one; it's Blue and its even faster than RAT!

Saturday Ride: the present weather forecast is good (warm and sunny). Let's get a big gang together and head somewhere (far away) for one the famous OSB breakfast rides.

Fredericton is finally on the map. There is going to be a TREK demo day. I found out that Radical is hosting a Trek Demo Day on June 13th in the afternoon and early evening at the Forestry Complex. We should plan our Friday ride around this event. Call the Radical Edge for more information. Mark the date on your calender.

Thursday evening ride: ONe of the most beautiful NB evening rides so far this year. Unfortunately only Tank, Scar and I were able to attend. Great route; Mactaquac loop with some extra kms around the ridge. The views were great, not too much wind, nice sun and perfect temps.

It's Friday :)
