It was a good day today for OSB at the Fredericton Marathon. Congratulations to Tank for finishing the 1/2 Marathon today in an impressive 1:44:20. I finished later at 1:47:16 which I was pleased with (even though Tank kicked my ass). Also, Brandon Timberlake did the 10k race in 49:08.

Thanks to Paul Lavoie, Roy, Bubbles, Scar, and the crew for putting on a first class event.

Tank was looking very cool today ! I don't think he was even sweating,he should of done the full marathon. Probably the only reason why he did was because that COOKIE fellow was in the half marathon. Congrats to you Tank in making COOKIE cry ! :) It was interesting to be at the race and I will look forward to going again.Happy Birthday to you Turbo, and Happy Mothers day to all you Mothers.
Will the warm weather ever get here ?

Running is truly an individual
sport.

Congrats to Cookie on a fine run.
Congrats to Son Brandon...picked a 3rd place in his age group for an excellent 1st time 10k race.
Got to get him on a bike.

Stopped running almost completely over the past # of years. definitely a place for it now in my routine. Variety is the spice of life!

Fredericton Marathon put on an excellent event. Thanks to all the organizers, volunteers and sponsors. Top Notch event.

I just bought a SCI CON Aero Comfort Plus Bike Bag to travel with. Should any OSB member have a trip coming up and would like to borrow it, get in touch. As long as it does not interfere with my travel plans....

Congratulations on a great race: Gary and son Brandon and George – the fine runners that you are. Gary was incredibly composed and calm.

Mike and Roy and the others: Organizationally, wow!

Hannah had a great result in the 5 km; finished second in her age group and 19th out of 60 (I think).

I can’t stand people with two good legs.

Have a good Monday evening ride: too much on the plate to join you folks tonight.

Pulled a "Pinky" tonight....damn you guys are some strong.

Sorry if I upset the pace..... Great Ride Boys.

Cheers

Ditto on the Ride.
Zorro all that skiing and Hockey is paying off. ZOOM ZOOM Zorro. Put a hurt on em :-)

Anonymous said...

Pulled a "pinky" = upsetting the pace??

Glad I'm famous for something.

Anonymous said...

Pinky you are famous for pulling the Pinky. Tank was pulling the Pinky over and over tonight. Tank kept his cool until the end,the opposite of Pinky. Zorro is some strong. I think he had an easy day at work today or he is on something.

For those of you public-spirited souls not racing this weekend, Bev could really use more volunteers. He's BBunker@nbpower.com

If you fancy the idea of putting the hurt on your friends, enemies, and acquaintances, but you don't have a license yet, fear not: Sheila will be selling them at registration (but you should still preregister to save $15).

Outstanding Wed. eve ride last night. The hills were kind and we had a good showing (Tank, Scar, King, Young guy, Firebird, Coach, and myself) although it appears we have lost Rat to the "dark side". He's just too strong for us "old" guys. Too bad about King's wheel = Just as Firebird or was it Tank who said = "you need (ed) to buy more of those expensive RED spokes"

Have a great long weekend. Perhaps a ride late in the day on Sunday?

You guys looked awesome in the paceline last night!

I went down to the Y after work to get ready or my OSB ride. As I was changing I noticed I did not have a cycling jersey. Sooooooooo, I biked over to the Edge, got a great deal on a jersey and then realised I had left my debit card at the Y. Mr. Davis then suggested that I ride with them.I felt obligated and after real tired.
I have not gone to the dark side as some ie Pinky would suggest
When I saw youse guys I was tempted to turn and catch on but I must say I was having a great ride with Mr.Davis.

Hope to se ya'll on Friday.

Anonymous said...

Glad you're still with us Rat. Impressive that you can ride with the Radical crew and perhaps push them - looked like you were doing that last night.

Anonymous said...

Rat is an OSB Brother forever....No Doubt, however I am starting to worry about.

Anonymous said...

This is the proof ! OSB has some real strong riders, No Doubt in the lead pack with Brain and our only Rat in the second pack with Davis. Then a couple of minutes later the main pack of Radical, with Carnage scattered all the way back to Marysville. Way to go boy's on your fitness. My wheel is in the shop and Brain the good guy that he is said no problem King we will get you rolling again. With last nights Great weather and good pace I am looking forward to more summer rides in the hot sunshine. See you Friday evening .

Anonymous said...

Rat, come, join me.... and we'll rule the empire/roads together! Not quite as father and son, even though you're old enough! Haha! You're still getting stronger and stronger every year. Davis better watch out for you on Sunday. I'd say the Masters Cat is shaping up to be quite a competition.

Cookie said...

We may have a few new riders Friday night. I hope we can all take it easy and make them feel welcome.

Stephen Dixon said...

Cookie... I'll be there and I'll be interested in a social ride pace. We need to get our social pace back on Fridays! :-)

Anonymous said...

"Keep it Friday", is the code for Social pace.

Anonymous said...

FYI
Nil/minimal interest in the posted Saturday Ride. plus the weather sucks

Mel said...

Despite the comments on the blog, I am getting dressed to go for a spin, is anyone else interested or going?

Anonymous said...

Any non-racers interested in a Sunday AM ride? Let's say Mactaquac loop, 9:00 AM from the Y.

Anonymous said...

I can't ride my bike for a while. I have a medical issue (like the one I had three years ago) and will comply with doctor's orders 100% this time. Hope I get better quickly!

Anonymous said...

If the weather is decent, I'll be there at 9AM

Mel said...

Weather looks fine for 9:00. I'll be there too. If we can, can we go out clockwise since I have to be home for a meeting before 11:00. Bob, why not ride by my house around 8:45 and we will cycle to the Y together.

Anonymous said...

10-4 Smoothie.

Anonymous said...

Team Evil leaving the "Y" on Sunday at 10 am. Don't have a route set out yet.

Thanks

Mel said...

So I was following Jazz and Argon Bob this morning heading out around Mactaquac. Then my wheel went into a crack in the pavement and "POP" both tires flatted at the same time! I managed to stay upright but has anyone had that happen to them before? Jazz loaned me a tube but it flatted too when I inflated it in a cut up tire. I called the "team car" to pick me up, my day was done.

However, I am willing to try again tomorrow morning, anyone heading out around 9:00??

Anonymous said...

Mel. I'm headed out for a ride tomorrow but later in the day. I will blog what time when I get it all sorted out. Scar did the same thing as you (two flats at once) last year near the Country \Pumpkin last year.

We rode for 40K tonight, mostly around town, up and down hills. We (Andrew for half and Reg Van Drecht's son from Calgary)never got really wet but the road was wet at one point and we got a bit wet. Interesting evening ride.

Hey OSB, you were extremely well represented by those who volunteered, raced, cheered, shot photos, etc. at this past weekend's Tour de Dog. Thanks!! You fun people are the reason I race.

The rest of you were missed in the Master Expert and Sport categories, particularly by Norman "where the hell are the OSB, I need someone to race with" Siebrasse. Maybe next time...

Anonymous said...

Kelly, I assure you we will be back, at least I will be. Just a busy dad with lots on my plate this year. Glad to hear that the race went well.

Great ride tonight with Rocket, Firebird, Turbo, Scar, Cookie, and a special guest appearance by Jurgen (AKA Cylosquach). What a strong rider! Hope you can make it out again. Rocket is also riding very well. You go girl!

I'd like to ride in the morning, weather permitting...any plans?

Anonymous said...

Hannah and I are riding from the Y at 9:30.Heading to Burtts Corner for Oatmeal and toast. Our pace will be slower than the norm.

Anonymous said...

Bubbles & Jazz: Weather looks good for Saturday AM. I'm planning on being at the Y for 9 AM. If no OSBers show up the Freewheelers are planning a 50 km ride from the Y at the same time.

Anonymous said...

I need/want/should to get a 100km aero-base ride in tomorrow. I thought of going out to Harvey and the Lake George loop, but will be happy to just ride. unless others suggest something. I'll get an early 0730-0800 start, and meet up with "Y' posting for 0930.

Well, I thought I was in the wrong place! That was until Reg showed up in his OSB kit ready for the Friday Social Ride, with legs springy from doing squats and jumps. We set off down the old highway and turned up Carriage Hill, went along Deerwood and back to ride the rollies and had another go up Carriage Hill (Reg's idea!) before heading back to town. Thanks, Reg for a great ride. And staying dry was a bonus. Sorry I missed your blog entry, Pinky.

Anonymous said...

I'll be at the Y for 0730. Firebird thing of a 1.5hr route

Anonymous said...

ONe of many Sat. AM rides left from the Y at 0900 and was composed of Argon Bob, Zoro, and Pinky. Did the Burton loop; cool and damp but a great ride. No sign of others other than Turbo's car parked at the Y.

Sunny and warm for Sunday - let's hope so!

I think I'll sell Old Red. 1997 Specialized Allez; Conventional steel frame with Aluminum fork; size 57-58 (I think?). Shimano 600 derailers, Sora Shifters, 105 brakes, Shimano pedals. Bike is in good shape and has been well cared for. Any interest: just email me: alangille0517@rogers.com

Sorry we missed you chaps, a mirade of Mechanical, Social and Environmental issues. prevented Firebird and I making it back in time.
My saddle required adjustments
Firebird discussed how intelligent minds see the world, Totally new concept to moi.
headwind on way back slowed us down.
also did Burton loop clockwise.

Anonymous said...

Damn, I should have been there for the intelligent minds conversation:). It was raining in N. Marlyand at 0815 so I changed my gear and ran instead.

Sunday Ride 830am Y (55-75k,2-3hrs) all welcome ,any takers.

So, lately bad luck. You read the story of popping both tires at once. Then, yesterday, I flatted a brand new tire as I arrived home from Oromocto. It has a slit on the tread, used three times and now useless. Today, I was doing the Mactaquac Loop and shifted to high gear to climb the hill, chain slips beyond the large cog on the cassette and jams between the cassette and the wheel, RIPPING the derailleur off the bike and destroying the derailleur hanger at the same time. Since the Trek bike has the hanger bonded to the frame, it will go back to the company for some major surgery. Thanks to Mike Davis for his help in getting the frame ready for shipping, etc.. Nice to have another bike in the garage! Be careful out there!
I will try to be there to ride in the morning but I have somewhere to be by 11:00 so I may return home early. See you on the road.
