Dear Old Scarred Bikers,

we don't know each other yet, but I wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year.
I hope that we get some snow soon, too. Maybe I'll give it a try and join you for cross country skiing.
I'm definetely looking forward to seeing you on the road bike in spring!

Best wishes, Joern

A sunny Christmas day, and not a flake of snow to be found, so on with the wind-barrier tights, woolie-boolies, and out with the road bike.

Motorists who normally shake their heads in disbelief where doing their best impression of Edvard Munch's 'The Scream'. But I wasn't the only "crazy" out today, I met two other cyclists and saw an additional two sets of tracks heading out to Mataquac.

So, I arrive home after 50K quite delighted with my effort only to outdone by Ivan Basso who apparently rode 100K today ... but I bet he didn't do it at -2C.

So Turbo, my meager tally is now 3126km for the year .... and their may be room for more.

Happy Holidays ...

Hi Omni,

good to know that you and Ivan Basso are still biking. Yesterday I went out for a 60 km ride to Oromocto and Maugerville on my Pinarello road bike. Like you said: Sunny day, dry roads, not a single snow flake: beautiful!

If you are going out for a tour between Christmas and New Year's Eve please inform me: jhatzky@gmx.de.

Best wishes, Joern

Joern,

If today's snow stays, I'll probably be skate skiing most of the week, but if we get a dry day with clean roads, I may try for another 50K ... I'll drop you a note if I head out.

Stinky needs somebody to play with during the holidays. I will be in town until Jan. 2 and I want to ski.

I will be skiing today at 11:00 at the woodlot. Blog if you plan on skiing today or any other time this week.
I can ski at anytime.

Hey Stinky: How was the skiing on wed.? Where did you start from I heard the Kent road is not open. I would be interested to ski on Sat., I will keep you posted.

Omni said...

Stinky,

I plan on heading out this afternoon around 14:30 - 15:00 ... I'm going to try going in from Kingswood today.

Omni said...

Zorro,

Someone has been in the Kent road on classics, but it is not groomed. There is water on the Kent side of the 'Y' junction {where the beavers were busy this summer} and the groomer cannot yet get down that road.

Stinky,

Slight change of plans. Apparently there are {blown} bare spots at Kingswood, so I'll be going in off the New Maryland highway.

Stinky said...

Omni et Zorro;

We are meeting tonight at 7:00 off the New Maryland highway. Join us if you can.

Also, I will be skiing Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I prefer the morning around 9ish. Give me a shout.

Donut, good ski this morning considering it was our first outing. Thanks for the company.

Stinky,

9ish? ... generally I find the snow better in the afternoon after it has had the sun for a bit ... as a bonus, it was warm enough this afternoon that you didn't need a jacket.

That said, the morning may work tomorrow as the afternoon weather does not look pleasant.

First entrance on the New Maryland Hwy at 09:00?

Stinky said...

Omni, sounds good. 9:00 tomorrow morning it is.
See you at the New Maryland Hwy. Anyone else interested?

Omni said...

Stinky,

The skis are now waxed and I'm ready to head back out tomorrow morning before it becomes too warm (a high of 6C is not what we need).

I'm going to head to the Woodlot again (New Maryland trail head) for 09:00 tomorrow morning.

Stinky said...

Way to go Omni. I am happy to hear that you FINALLY waxed your skis.

I am not sure when I can ski tomorrow. I might have to make it a night ski due to plans for the day. Plus, 9:00 is too early after New Year's Eve. :)

If you, or anybody else, is interested in a night ski, give me a shout.

Dear OSB'ers,

I hope you had a good slide into the new year. I wish you all the best for 2011!

Can you recommend a studio in Fredericton which offers spinning classes?

Cheers, Joern

Joern,

Drop by the Radical Edge and talk to Brian about their spin classes
