Thanks to OSB for a wonderful year in 2010. As you know, I like riding my bike, but, I LOVE riding with OSB. I am proud to be part of such a wonderful community of strong bikers. I look forward to many more incredible riding years together.

As well, Grill Dome (Rob) and I would like to thank Darlene and Turbo for a wonderful evening. Rob is already planning what he will be cooking for the social at our place next year.

Last, I will be heading to the woodlot to ski at 1:00. I will be starting at Kent parking lot. I have to work off the delicious food from last night.

I just saw the temperature and I am not sure if I will be skiing. It may be too chilly, but I will post at 12:00.

Government of Canada Supports New Physical Activity Guidelines

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Jan. 24, 2011) - The Honourable Leona Aglukkaq,
Minister of Health, today congratulated the Canadian Society for Exercise
Physiology on the development and release of new physical activity guidelines.

The new guidelines give Canadians basic information about the types, intensity
and frequency of physical activity needed to promote good health. The
guidelines reflect advances in exercise science and provide the recommended
activity levels for health benefits. Based on three years of research, the new
guidelines were developed by the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology with
the support of the Public Health Agency of **>Canada.<**

"We know that most Canadians aren't active enough," said Minister Aglukkaq.
"The guidelines are an important step in providing up-to-date information about
the physical activity Canadians need as part of a healthy lifestyle, and to
help them get moving. We are pleased to have supported CSEP in reviewing the
science and developing the guidelines."

Physical activity plays an important role in the health, well-being and quality
of life of Canadians, and helps to prevent chronic diseases like cancer, type 2
diabetes and heart disease. The new guidelines suggest 150 minutes (or 2.5
hours) of moderate- to vigorous-intensity physical activity a week for adults
18 and over and 60 minutes a day for children and youth, ages 5 to 17, to
achieve measurable health benefits.

"This may be the first generation of children not to live as long or be as
healthy as their parents," said **>Chief Public Health Officer<**, Dr. David
Butler-Jones. "We need to encourage our kids to get active and we need to set
an example for them. If you are not achieving the level of physical activity
suggested in the guidelines, do what you can and build up. If you already meet
these guidelines, try to do more for even greater health benefits."

The Public Health Agency of **>Canada<** has updated its website with information
that provides an easy-to-read interpretation of the physical activity
guidelines and tips to incorporate physical activity into daily life. The
Agency will continue to work with stakeholders to develop additional tools and
resources to help Canadians become and stay physically active.

The Government of **>Canada<** is committed to helping Canadians make healthy
choices. From funding community programs and research, to providing information
and resources, and sharing best practices in health promotion and disease
prevention, we work to promote healthier lifestyles for Canadians. We are also
working with the provinces and territories to find ways to make the
environments where Canadians live, learn, work and play more supportive of
physical activity and healthy eating.

i can't think of a nicer person or more deserving cyclist to win the OSB award.

Given the criteria for the award it certainly won't come in the direction of those who ride "Evil".

All the best.

Happy Trails

Anybody interested in Nordic Skiing may want to mark your calender for Wednesday February 16th. The Rep from Salomon will be at the Radical Edge on this day. During the afternoon there will be a ski at the UNB Woodlot, anybody who has boots compatible to Salomon bindings will be able to demo a new pair of skies. Everybody is welcome to join in on the ski no matter what brand of skies that you have. All the new 2012 line will be there and I believe their 2011 as well. This will be followed by a social upstairs at the Edge on Westmorland Street. This will give you a chance to look over and ask any questions on the product line. Not sure of the exact time that this will start, Brian had mentioned the ski would be in the afternoon, followed by the social. As the date gets closer, give the store a call, as they will be able to provide further details.

Sounds like a god time.

Sorry, I meant to say sounds like a "good" time. :)

Hey all:

Allie and I went to Charlo a few weeks back to skate ski and we had a blast. In fact, it was so fun that we are going back in March. We will be leaving on March 11th and returning on Sunday the 13th.

If you are interested in joining us, blog or you can email me at tracy.thibodeau@nbed.nb.ca. We need to know soon because we will be booking the cabins some time this week. Also, they rent classic and skate skis in Charlo.

Another day trip we plan to take is to Fundy, On Saturday, Feb. 19 we will be heading to Fundy for the day. I have never been there, but I heard alot of positive things.

Hopefully some of you can join us.

Donut, I may go on Wednesday if I can leave work at a reasonable time,
