On behalf of all the cycling community, we would like to congratulate Smoothie on his award of “OSB Rider of the Year”. While being the model of constancy for cycling in 2009 Smoothie also organized the “Kids for Cancer” ride. That resulted in Team OSB raising over $5,000 with donations from family, friends and fellow riders. The “Commute with Smoothie” has become a staple of the weekly riding adventures. When nominations were forwarded it became apparent that Mel has been a mentor, role model and friend to both older riders and the many new ones that have joined OSB in 2009. His positive influence with others has shone through in tough times, and enabled all of us the appreciate the “good times” that Cycling and Team OSB brings to us all.

Congratulations Mel. Your dedication to the biking community is outstanding.

I am heading out for a ski at LV tomorrow at 10:00 if anybody wants to join me. I went to the WL today and the conditions were not great at all. I will give LV a try tomorrow.

Smoothy,

Congrats and thank you for your inspiration to ride as often as possible ,that everyday is a good day is a good day to ride.
And most of all thank you for working on Oromocto, as those commutes are some of the nicest rides especially as it relates to the time of day as we can get the sunrise.

Congrats Smoothy. You are a mentor and role model and a very patient guy!

Your words of encouragement have helped me on many, many occasions.

Excellent choice. Congratulations, Smoothy.

Has anyone ever heard this guy complain about the pace, the route, the distance, or the weather? Never! What a great role model.

Congrats Smoothy. I have always heard nothing but positive words from you and you certainly inspire each and everyone. I am proud to be part of a great team.

Thanks to everyone for the "OSB Rider of the Year", it is really an honor for me. Plus, thank you for the kind words on the BLOG! Most of all, thanks for all the companionship while riding and the many activities during the past cycling season! The Kids for Cancer was awesome (we will try it again but without the rain) commuting is always more fun when I have company! Any ride is better as a group. I have never had such nice things written about me before so thanks once again. Come and visit at Crabbe Mountain this winter, pretty soon we will be riding again!

See you on the road,

Smoothie

Dear Mel; You make us so proud.

You are a lot OSB and a little bit Evil (Evil kits and the odd ride with us). You are the complete road cyclist (good and a little bit "bad"). Now, if we could only get you to ski the trees and bumps!

Well done Mel.

Anyone have any info on the ski trails? Anxious to get out again!
Just went to see Avatar 3D Wow.
All Good.

Hey Smoothie,

Joining OSB was a bit intimidating to say the least. Right from my first ride, you encouraged me and gave me lots of tips on how to ride more efficiently. And more importantly not to worry about holding anyone up, just have fun riding. It sure encouraged me to keep coming back.

Turbo; I went to Lyndsy yesterday but the skate ski trails were not good. I skied, but it was very frustrating.

I will be classic skiing at the woodlot tomorrow at 5:00. I doubt that the skate ski trails will be groomed tomorrow.

Thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Pebbles for a great evening. It was a lot of fun and you went to alot of work to have us all in your home.

I'm heading out for a run...I'm sure it won't feel very good.(I should have stayed on the no wine for January). Guess I'll have to start again today.

Herc, Rat and I are skiing at the Woodlot at 345 if anyone would like to join u.

Before you know it, we will be on our bikes again.

Rat, sorry about not returning the jacket earlier. Hopefully someday you may forgive me. :) I took good care of it.

this is a follow up to the story of the doctor who put the brakes on to teach a lesson to cyclists. He got 5 years in prison!

Smoothie, I echo all of the comments above, and also congratulate you on your impecable taste in bikes! I think we should shoot for the Cabot Trail again this year.

Great turnout last night for GOP, coach Troy put us through 90min of rigorius spinning, even added in some squats to keep us burning.
Good job to all 7 that attended.
